Greene County district court, week ending Feb. 20

In Greene County district court Brian R. Weltzin, 29, of Grand Junction was sentenced Feb. 19 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended; if he eventually serves the sentence it will be consecutive to sentenced in two other Greene County cases. He was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must complete a drinking drivers school. He must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Weltzin was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted drivers license. He must pay $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $135.50 court costs.

In a second case against Weltzin, he was sentenced to one year in jail, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. The sentence was suspended with two years’ probation to the Iowa DOCS. A judgment was entered for a $430 fine with a $64.50 surcharge. He must also pay $250 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $146.70 court costs. A charge of criminal mischief was dismissed.

In a third case against Weltzin, he was sentenced to one year in jail, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possessing or carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence. He was placed on probation to the DOCS for two years. He must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. He must pay $250 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees.

As part of a plea agreement in the cases, charges in magistrate court of public intoxication and disorderly conduct- loud/raucous noise were dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable James B. McCarville in all cases)

Auston Lawrence Carter, 32, of Coon Rapids was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must enroll in a drinking drivers school at his own expense, and he must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $1,250 civil penalty; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $286. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Ashley Dawn Messer, 36, of Perry was sentenced to a term not to exceed five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- second degree, amended from theft- first degree. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for three years. She was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Keegan Rowdy Steven Claiser, 27, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. All but two days of the jail sentenced was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for two years. If he ever serves the jail term it will be consecutive to terms in two other Greene County cases. Claiser was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Tythaniel Paul Sinkuler, 36, of Jefferson was sentenced to 28 days in jail with credit for time served after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault by strangulation. If he ever serves the sentence it will be concurrent to the sentence in one other Greene County case. He must complete an Iowa domestic abuse assault program at his own expense. Sinkuler was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $90 domestic abuse surcharge, $500 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $131.50 court costs.

In a second case in which he was charged with the same crime, he was sentenced to two years in prison, with all but two days suspended. The sentenced will be concurrent if they’re ever served. Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Dakota William Ocker, 23, of Ames, harassment- second degree; Takyla Ruth Pittman, 36, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred; and Karen Gay LeClaire, 64, of Scranton, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. Trial dates were set for April 15 in every case.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Sean Michael Allen Pollard, 37, of Paton is charged with possession of a controlled substance- second offense, gathering where controlled substances are used, a controlled substance violation, ongoing criminal conduct, and prostitution. The case was initiated Aug. 28, 2025; the warrant was served Feb. 12.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Cullum Joseph Corpron, 50, of Boone is charged with ongoing criminal conduct- influence enterprise, burglary- third degree (two counts), theft- third degree (two counts), and criminal mischief- second degree (two counts). The case was initiated Dec. 27, 2025 the warrant was served Feb. 18.
